“We both love basketball and soccer. We have been playing basketball together ever since we learnt how to dribble the ball in class 4. I captained Bhutanese basketball team in various tournaments and my sister runs a football club.

The Kira I am wearing in the picture was given to me by my mother which was handed down to her by her mother. It is an old pattern called the Hothra. The green blouse I am wearing is called Wonju and it is made of silk. The yellow jacket over the Kira is called a Tego and it is made of brocade. My necklace has a strand of cat’s eye stones with gold dorji and coral stones.

When we were little, we used to dress the same with every color matching, but now our style is very different.

I am currently listening to Ed Sheeran & The Weeknd while my sister is into hip-hop and she loves T.I.” — Namzay

Tell me something about yourself.
I recently moved to Mumbai. I love to live life as it comes, currently I have been taking up modelling assignments and that’s been keeping me busy. I don’t know if I’ll be doing this forever as I have many other interests, but I make it a point to enjoy everything I do. I like reading(Go Set a Watchman was the last thing I read). I like writing, singing, jamming, cleaning my house. I like keeping things neat and tidy.

What kind of music do you like?
Some of my all time favourite are James Brown, Nina Simone, Sade, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar.

What’s your favourite song to sing?
New York New York by Frank Sinatra.

Tell me something about yourself.
I’m from Ladakh. I am obsessed with wearing all white. My favourite film is Ghibli’s Kaguya Hime no monogatari. Stereophonics’ Maybe Tomorrow is my morning song. I am fluent in Japanese. My name means one angel in Ladakhi, it was given to me by my parents, and Rigzin Wangmo was given to me by a head monk. I have a pet rabbit who acts like a pup.

What’s the best thing about Ladakh?
It’s so quiet at night that you can hear the leaves move and the sound of water stream from my room.

Tell me more about the rabbit.
He’s called Tashi. He has a balcony full of plants all to himself. We’ve made toys out of cardboard boxes for him to play with. I’m also getting a tunnel made for him.

You know you can train them and apparently you can also teach them to play hide and seek.

Gursi | fashion week

October 17, 2015

street style fashion week delhi

Tell me something about yourself?  I am Gursi, a designer, perpetually looking out for bigger meanings in life.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? As a kid I always wanted to do and try different things, I realised way too early that the only thing that’s constant is change.

How would you describe your style? My style is mostly monochromatic, simple, and boxy.

What are you wearing? I am wearing a long oversize white shirt with grey melange paneling and a white low crotch pants – all lovebirds.

Do you have any pop culture figures that you look up to? I like the androgyny and madness of Miranda July and Thom Yorke.

How did you get interested in fashion?  I was always interested in design. I have been doing graphics, spaces, and illustrations, and while doing all that I always had an opinion about fashion. But I got more into it after meeting Amrita while she was curating western vintage. Of course traveling and east London inspired us to do more.

What are you currently listening to? Tropic of Cancer – The One Left

Currently reading? Milan Kundera’s Ignorance

A phrase you can’t avoid. It’s all a game!
