Jodhpur: conclusion

January 19, 2011

Women are mostly about floral and paisley prints like following some sort of custom. Men are mostly colorful only on their heads. I hung around in this Sardar Bazaar market because everyday the market sees new people. Other than the regular tourists, there is an influx of people from nearby villages and it’s packed on the weekends. It is close to the railway station. Most places near the railway stations in India have markets where they sell mostly clothes+just about everything that a traveling person(or even a non-traveling person) might need. Considering all that I assume I pretty much got everyone from in and around Jodhpur..or maybe that’s a bit too ambitious. In a market like this you find cheap goods even by the local standards. Here, the probability of finding international brands is extremely high. Either they are export rejects or a few seasons old stock but they look perfectly fine. Comme Des Garcons and YSL cardigans sell for 60Rupees on push carts parked around the clock tower.

Taches & turbans in the blue city

January 8, 2011

…still in Jodhpur(blogphorically speaking), about 30 rupees away from the railway station in to the old city near the Meherangarh Fort. The other day they said a man was only looking down from the top of the fort and fell, broke his both arms and legs, but survived. So it goes. And I’d been reading Slaughterhouse Five.

Photos are from around the shifting Clock Tower area in Sardar Bazaar where the Lonely Planet recommended Omelette man stands surrounded by sights, sounds, other omelette competitors, photographers, and occasional cows.

I am leaving Bombay today…going on a two month long trip. I start with Jodhpur and then move up north..still undecided where post Jodhpur. Delhi & Chandigarh are certain. Maybe Varanasi. Maybe Shillong. Maybe Dharamsala. Hope to find some amazing street style photos.

Photos from Bombay and Pushkar(from my previous trip).
