Urmi Ghosh|Maar and Moumoune…“collection inspired by the tragic love story of Pablo Picasso and his beloved Dora Maar. The collection had a fusion of layers and textures along with varied silhouettes and fabrics…Embroidery played an important role with cats, boots, tight rope walkers, birds, cages motifs splashed on the garments…and a muted colour palette with ivory, brown, dusty green, black, beige and brown used as patchwork…”

Teresa & Roger|Retarded Velvet. …”emphasis on proportions, the collection had a unisex appeal with a relaxed unstructured touch. Bringing together the beauty of varied fabrics like Ghanaian batik, Native American fabrics, South Indian cotton with Tencel and Lyocell…”

Siddarth Arya|Steam Punk…”Inspired by the cult punk movement of the 1980s..using art, music, dance, theatre, research, science and technology..garage punk couture embroidered corset combined with an armadillo reptilian shoulders bolero and rag doll micro mini. Taffeta came alive for a layered skirt with metal grunge embroidered coat and the leather appliqué dress with jet sequinned cape and cutout leggings…”

The Gen next show was styled by Aki Narula: He mentored the Gen-next designers for two months being involved in everything from the inception of it all to the final execution. He’d also styled the preview of their collection that appeared in Elle’s August issue. Scans below.

Backstage is a lot of fun..with crazy amount of crew+non-crew(?) members standing everywhere with elbows and non-elbows of photographers and non-photographers sticking out from all sides. And I’ve been tagged as a sneaky photographer for stealing other photographers’ staged photos. So very unoriginal…of me.
